By Sheila G. Kelley, ECCO Communications

KIOWA-Chesapeake Energy, the second largest natural gas producer in the United States, donated a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer to the Elbert County Coalition for Outreach (ECCO).

John C. Dill, Director of Corporate Development and Governmental Relations, along with Coordinator Kelsey Campbell, spoke to the group receiving the vehicle. They were impressed with ECCO's mission of helping Elbert County citizens. "We are pleased to provide the blazer to help support your mission and activities," Dill said
.
The ECCO vehicle will be used to pick up donations, transport individuals in need and support the daily activities of the ECCO Community Resource Center thrift store in Kiowa.

Chesapeake Energy, a Fortune 500 company, is headquartered in Oklahoma City with an office in the Denver area. They are the most active driller of new wells with about 170 rigs operating across the US.

Last year Chesapeake Energy donated about $25 million dollars back to communities. They have also helped support the Elbert County Sheriff's Department and the Elizabeth Stampede.

ECCO Community Resource Center thrift store Director Pam Witucki expressed her thanks for the donation. "We are so very grateful for the vehicle. It will help us in our daily operations of the thrift store."

Elbert County Commissioners Del Schwab, John Shipper and Kurt Schlagel, along with ECCO members Jami Torres and Sheila Kelley, attended the transfer-of-title event.

Commissioner Schwab thanked Chesapeake Energy for their support of a vital business in the community. "The thrift store is an important thing for the county. A lot of people wouldn't have a lot if it weren't for the store," Schwab said as he thanked Dill for the donation. "The BOCC strongly supports and endorses the efforts of ECCO."
